Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu by Wang Kaiyun was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2014, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 45,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 137,500.00 (€ 14,156.03). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Kaiyun - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Poem In Xingshu, which sold at auction in October 2016 for HKD 275,000.00 (€ 32,361.80).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet In Xingshu von Wang Kaiyun im Oktober 2014 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 45.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 137.500,00 (€ 14.156,03) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Kaiyun mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Poem In Xingshu beobachtet, die im Oktober 2016 für HKD 275.000,00 (€ 32.361,80) versteigert wurde.
