This price was achieved in the auction Chinese 20th Century Art (Day Sale) at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 400,000.00 many times over. This high result makes Self Portrait the most expensive artwork by Wang Jiyuan that we have observed at auctions so far.
