Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sunset Over Fishing Village by Wan Shanglin was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,235.27). Other works by Wan Shanglin have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2016 by the work Various Objects at HKD 141,600.00 (€ 16,663.38).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sunset Over Fishing Village von Wan Shanglin im September 2016 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.235,27) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Wan Shanglin wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Oktober 2016 die Arbeit Various Objects mit HKD 141.600,00 (€ 16.663,38).
