In November 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Stringing Chili Peppers by Walter Ufer. The »bidding war« ended at USD 265,000.00 (€ 180,419.39), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Walter Ufer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Gateway in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 1,497,000.00 (€ 962,082.26).

Im November 2007 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stringing Chili Peppers von Walter Ufer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 265.000,00 (€ 180.419,39) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walter Ufer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Gateway im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.497.000,00 (€ 962.082,26).
