The work The Water Women 30 x 30 in. framed 41 x 41 in. by Walter Ufer was sold in the The Collection of G. Andrew Bjurman auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November last year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 567,375.00 (€ 549,622.20), 62% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walter Ufer; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Gateway sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of USD 1,497,000.00 (€ 962,082.26).
