In August this year Christies in Sydney held the auction Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century, which included the work Boy on Roof, Pitt Street, New York, 1950 by Walter Rosenblum. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,649.88), 68% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Walter Rosenblum; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Candy Store; and Pitt Street, N.Y., 1938 sold at auction in December 2011 with the realized price of USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,817.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 68 % übertroffen
