Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Stone Bridge by Walter Launt Palmer was sold in the Two Centuries: American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 60,480.00 (€ 51,503.02) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Launt Palmer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Winter Forest, which sold at auction in May 2007 for USD 198,000.00 (€ 147,179.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Stone Bridge von Walter Launt Palmer wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion Two Centuries: American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 60.480,00 (€ 51.503,02) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Launt Palmer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Winter Forest beobachtet, die im Mai 2007 für USD 198.000,00 (€ 147.179,07) versteigert wurde.
