In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work Near Beddgelert, North Wales by Walter J. Watson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,500.00 (€ 5,346.97), 29% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter J. Watson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bolton Abbey; morning and afternoon, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 13,742.50 (€ 20,618.81).

Im Juli 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Near Beddgelert, North Wales von Walter J. Watson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.500,00 (€ 5.346,97) und damit 29% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter J. Watson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bolton Abbey; morning and afternoon beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 13.742,50 (€ 20.618,81) versteigert wurde.
