Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work Sheep Near A Billabong by Walter Withers. The price achieved of AUD 2,390.00 (€ 1,498.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Withers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Farmer'S Girl in May 2005 with an auction result of AUD 221,075.00 (€ 135,896.05).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2005 führte Christies in Melbourne die Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sheep Near A Billabong von Walter Withers zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 2.390,00 (€ 1.498,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Withers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Farmer'S Girl im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 221.075,00 (€ 135.896,05).
