Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Harvest time by Walter Heath Williams was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2005, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,314.73). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Heath Williams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On the Glas Lyn, which sold at auction in October 2004 for USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,000.78).

Als die Arbeit Harvest time von Walter Heath Williams im Mai 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 3.600,00 (€ 5.314,73) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Heath Williams mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit On the Glas Lyn beobachtet, die im Oktober 2004 für USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.000,78) versteigert wurde.
