Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction British and Victorian Paintings, which included the work Children by a pond in a wooded landscape with cattle beyond by Walter Heath Williams. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,346.00 (€ 5,020.23) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Heath Williams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work On the Glas Lyn, which sold at auction in October 2004 for USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,000.78).
