Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of James McNeill Whistler (1834-1903), seated at an easel by Walter Greaves was sold in the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2017. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 20,922.12) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Walter Greaves have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 59,750.00 (€ 85,864.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of James McNeill Whistler (1834-1903), seated at an easel von Walter Greaves wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 20.922,12) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Walter Greaves auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 59.750,00 (€ 85.864,00).
