In September last year Bonhams in London held the auction 19th Century and British Impressionist Art, which included the work Nocturne, Battersea Bridge by Walter Greaves. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,375.00 (€ 7,255.37), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Greaves achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 59,750.00 (€ 85,864.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 28 % übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion 19th Century and British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nocturne, Battersea Bridge von Walter Greaves zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.375,00 (€ 7.255,37) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Greaves erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 59.750,00 (€ 85.864,00).
