Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Christies in London held the auction Peter Langan: A Life with Art, which included the work Nursing by a fireside by Walter Greaves. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,774.87) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Greaves achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 59,750.00 (€ 85,864.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Christies in London die Auktion Peter Langan: A Life with Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nursing by a fireside von Walter Greaves zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.774,87) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Greaves erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea im Juni 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 59.750,00 (€ 85.864,00).
