Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2011 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Old Battersea Bridge And Chelsea Embankment by Walter Greaves. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,254.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Greaves achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work James Abbott McNeill Whistler on the Widow's Walk at his House in Lindsey Row, Chelsea in June 2003 with an auction result of GBP 59,750.00 (€ 85,864.00).
