In April 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work A Bureau Plat Set With Flowers by Walter Gay. The »bidding war« ended at USD 31,250.00 (€ 22,530.64), 56% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Walter Gay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Salon des Aigles, Hotel Crillon, Paris, which sold at auction in April 2002 for USD 45,410.00 (€ 50,444.35).

Im April 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Bureau Plat Set With Flowers von Walter Gay zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 31.250,00 (€ 22.530,64) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Walter Gay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Salon des Aigles, Hotel Crillon, Paris beobachtet, die im April 2002 für USD 45.410,00 (€ 50.444,35) versteigert wurde.
