Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Walter Elmer Schofield could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in March 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Paintings auction, the work Andes Mining Company changed hands for USD 5,400.00 (€ 4,037.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walter Elmer Schofield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nearing Spring in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 181,000.00 (€ 116,323.91).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Walter Elmer Schofield konnte im März 2007 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Paintings wechselte die Arbeit Andes Mining Company für USD 5.400,00 (€ 4.037,69) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walter Elmer Schofield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Nearing Spring im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 181.000,00 (€ 116.323,91).
