Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Main Street, Saratoga Springs, New York, 1931 by Walker Evans. Here, the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,469.83). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Walker Evans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Penny Picture Display, Savannah in October 2003 with an auction result of USD 197,900.00 (€ 170,471.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Main Street, Saratoga Springs, New York, 1931 von Walker Evans zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.469,83) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Walker Evans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Penny Picture Display, Savannah im Oktober 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 197.900,00 (€ 170.471,19).
