In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction The Greek Sale, which included the work Greek Büste by Vlassis Caniaris. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,900.00 (€ 26,644.55), 39% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Vlassis Caniaris - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Greek Hommage Aux Murs D'Athènes, which sold at auction in May 2009 for GBP 55,250.00 (€ 63,205.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im April 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Greek Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Greek Büste von Vlassis Caniaris zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 20.900,00 (€ 26.644,55) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Vlassis Caniaris mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Greek Hommage Aux Murs D'Athènes beobachtet, die im Mai 2009 für GBP 55.250,00 (€ 63.205,44) versteigert wurde.
