The late 1970s are a lovely period in Weisberg’s gradual progression from his looser, broad-brushed pastel-colored early paintings towards the tighter, still, refined, monochromatic works of his mature oeuvre, which have earned him the sobriquet of ‘The Russian Morandi’. Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The City by Vladimir Weisberg was sold in the Escape Artists: The Non-Conformists Online auction at Sothebys in New York in October 2018. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 44,122.84) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Vladimir Weisberg have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Reclining Nude in November 2012 with an auction result of GBP 229,250.00 (€ 282,412.74).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The City von Vladimir Weisberg wurde im Oktober 2018 in der Auktion Escape Artists: The Non-Conformists Online bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 44.122,84) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Vladimir Weisberg auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Reclining Nude im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 229.250,00 (€ 282.412,74).
