In June 2014 Christies in London held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art, which included the work Sisters: Silk And Brocade by Vivan Sundaram. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,997.81), 33% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Vivan Sundaram have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Passage in March 2006 with an auction result of USD 51,000.00 (€ 42,013.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 33 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2014 führte Christies in London die Auktion South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sisters: Silk And Brocade von Vivan Sundaram zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 4.000,00 (€ 4.997,81) und damit 33% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Vivan Sundaram auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Passage im März 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.000,00 (€ 42.013,35).
