The result of EUR 1,500.00 was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vincenzo Gemito achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait en buste du chanteur lyrique Jean-Baptiste Faure in March this year with an auction result of EUR 41,984.00.

Die Arbeit Il filosofo von Vincenzo Gemito wurde im Juni letzten Jahres in der Auktion Dipinti e Sculture del XIX e XX Secolo bei Il Ponte versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 1.500,00 entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 1.500,00 – 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vincenzo Gemito erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait en buste du chanteur lyrique Jean-Baptiste Faure im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 41.984,00.
