Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Xebecs and other coastal craft in the Mediterranean off Tangiers, Morocco by Vilhelm Melbye was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2012. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 9,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 12,318.99). Admittedly, works by Vilhelm Melbye have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Spanish felucca, British warships and other shipping in the Mediterranean off Gibraltar in May 2012 with an auction result of GBP 43,250.00 (€ 53,887.60).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Xebecs and other coastal craft in the Mediterranean off Tangiers, Morocco von Vilhelm Melbye wurde im November 2012 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 9.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 10.000,00 (€ 12.318,99) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Vilhelm Melbye auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Spanish felucca, British warships and other shipping in the Mediterranean off Gibraltar im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.250,00 (€ 53.887,60).
