Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Gokakoku ijin shuen no zu (Picture of a banquet with foreigners from five countries), 1861 by Utagawa Yoshikazu was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2003. The price achieved of USD 3,585.00 (€ 3,288.99) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 4,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Utagawa Yoshikazu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Amerikashu no uchi Washintonfu no kei dohan no utsushi (One of the states in America: Copy of an engraving of Washington, D.C.), which sold at auction in March 2003 for USD 10,755.00 (€ 9,866.97).

Die Arbeit Gokakoku ijin shuen no zu (Picture of a banquet with foreigners from five countries), 1861 von Utagawa Yoshikazu kam im März 2003 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.585,00 (€ 3.288,99) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 4.000,00 angegeben worden.
