The work Amerikashu no uchi Washintonfu no kei dohan no utsushi (One of the states in America: Copy of an engraving of Washington, D.C.) by Utagawa Yoshikazu was sold in the AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS auction at Christies in New York in March 2003. The price achieved of USD 10,755.00 (€ 9,866.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 9,000.00 – 12,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Amerikashu no uchi Washintonfu no kei dohan no utsushi (One of the states in America: Copy of an engraving of Washington, D.C.) is the most expensive artwork by Utagawa Yoshikazu that we have observed at auctions so far.
