Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2003 Christies in New York held the auction AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS, which included the work Amerikakoku jokisha orai (The transit of an American steam locomotive), 1861 by Utagawa Yoshikazu. The price achieved of USD 2,868.00 (€ 2,631.19) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Utagawa Yoshikazu - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Amerikashu no uchi Washintonfu no kei dohan no utsushi (One of the states in America: Copy of an engraving of Washington, D.C.), which sold at auction in March 2003 for USD 10,755.00 (€ 9,866.97).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in New York die Auktion AN IMPORTANT COLLECTION OF JAPANESE PRINTS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Amerikakoku jokisha orai (The transit of an American steam locomotive), 1861 von Utagawa Yoshikazu zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.868,00 (€ 2.631,19) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Utagawa Yoshikazu mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Amerikashu no uchi Washintonfu no kei dohan no utsushi (One of the states in America: Copy of an engraving of Washington, D.C.) beobachtet, die im März 2003 für USD 10.755,00 (€ 9.866,97) versteigert wurde.
