This artwork by Utagawa Yoshiiku achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June 2003. In the Japanese Art & Design auction, the work Picture of the Prosperity of an English Trading House: the interior of Jardine Matheson's emporium in Yokohama sold for GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,747.65) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Utagawa Yoshiiku achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Artisans And Events Of The Twelve Months in March 2021 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 44,707.49).
