oban yoko-e, 'Sakai Fukiyamachi kaomise yoshibai no zu' (Night performance of the New Year kabuki at Fukiyamachi in Sakai), published by Nishimuraya (Yohachi); and Chokosai Eisho (fl.ca.1790's), oban yoko-e, 'Shin-Yoshiwara Nakanomachi yugeshiki no zu' (Sunset at Nakanomachi in New-Yoshiwara), published by Yamaguchiya (Teacake) at Bakurocho sanchome, both mounted. Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Unknown by Utagawa Toyoharu was sold in the Japanese Ceramics & Works of Art auction at Christies in London in November 2007. The auction ended at the price of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 2,100.39), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Toyoharu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ten beauties of Edo in March 2004 with an auction result of USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,554.83).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Unknown von Utagawa Toyoharu wurde im November 2007 in der Auktion Japanese Ceramics & Works of Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 2.100,39) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyoharu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ten beauties of Edo im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.554,83).
