Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2001 a collector was able to acquire the work Two beauties smoking pipes and walking under cherry blossoms, followed by a young boy carrying an umbrella while a puppy plays at their feet, with signature Gyonen rokujugo-o aged sixty-five Ichiryusai Toyoharu ga with a seal Ichiryusai by Utagawa Toyoharu for GBP 2,350.00 (€ 3,739.59). This price was achieved in the auction JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 6,000.00 – Admittedly, works by Utagawa Toyoharu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ten beauties of Edo in March 2004 with an auction result of USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,554.83).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2001 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Two beauties smoking pipes and walking under cherry blossoms, followed by a young boy carrying an umbrella while a puppy plays at their feet, with signature Gyonen rokujugo-o aged sixty-five Ichiryusai Toyoharu ga with a seal Ichiryusai von Utagawa Toyoharu für GBP 2.350,00 (€ 3.739,59) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion JAPANESE ART AND DESIGN bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyoharu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ten beauties of Edo im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.554,83).
