In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Japanese Ceramics & Works of Art, which included the work Unknown by Utagawa Toyoharu. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,500.00 (€ 2,100.39), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Utagawa Toyoharu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ten beauties of Edo in March 2004 with an auction result of USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,554.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im November 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Japanese Ceramics & Works of Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unknown von Utagawa Toyoharu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 2.100,39) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Utagawa Toyoharu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ten beauties of Edo im März 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.120,00 (€ 15.554,83).
