Despite a disappointment, a good price for Uemura Shoen
When the work Beauties of the twelve months by Uemura Shoen was auctioned at Christies in New York in March 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 400,000.00 – 500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 399,500.00 (€ 366,513.76). Despite this disappointing result, Beauties of the twelve months is the most expensive artwork by Uemura Shoen that we have observed at auction so far.
Trotz Enttäuschung ein guter Preis für Uemura Shoen
Als die Arbeit Beauties of the twelve months von Uemura Shoen im März 2003 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 399.500,00 (€ 366.513,76) den Besitzer. Trotz dieses enttäuschenden Ergebnisses ist Beauties of the twelve months das teuerste Kunstwerk von Uemura Shoen, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
