In November 2018 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections, which included the work A Resting Beauty by U Lun Gywe. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 150,000.00 (€ 16,930.14), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by U Lun Gywe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Spectrum of Burmese Colour, which sold at auction in November 2019 for HKD 325,000.00 (€ 37,693.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Im November 2018 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Resting Beauty von U Lun Gywe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 150.000,00 (€ 16.930,14) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von U Lun Gywe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Spectrum of Burmese Colour beobachtet, die im November 2019 für HKD 325.000,00 (€ 37.693,98) versteigert wurde.
