This artwork by Toyin Ojih Odutola achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in September 2020. In the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction, the work The Original (Binary State) sold for USD 68,825.00 (€ 58,734.43) - well above the upper estimate of USD 30,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Toyin Ojih Odutola achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Through Line in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 2,198,000.00 (€ 1,947,373.08).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Toyin Ojih Odutola erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Through Line im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.198.000,00 (€ 1.947.373,08).
