Auction result well in line with expectations
The work (i) Double Veg Man (Fresh)(ii) Double Veg Man (Rotten) by Tony Matelli was sold in the The World Is A Sphere: Art from the Faurschou Foundation auction at Christies in London in July 2020. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,668.54) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Tony Matelli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Lost & Sick, which sold at auction in September 2011 for USD 36,250.00 (€ 26,953.68).
