Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2024 Christies in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work A lace-trimmed hand cloth, a pan dulce and glassware on a stand, all arranged upon a tabletop draped with green damask by Tomás Hiepes. The price achieved of USD 138,600.00 (€ 121,132.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 120,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Tomás Hiepes have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Myrtle in a lobed-footed polychrome maiolica Manises vase on a draped ledge in December 2003 with an auction result of GBP 363,650.00 (€ 515,062.58).
