This artwork by Tom Lovell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. In the Two Centuries: American Art auction, the work On the Rocks sold for USD 50,400.00 (€ 42,919.19) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Tom Lovell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Catchers of Wild Horses in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 312,500.00 (€ 268,309.44).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Tom Lovell erzielte im März 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Two Centuries: American Art wurde die Arbeit On the Rocks für USD 50.400,00 (€ 42.919,19) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tom Lovell auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Catchers of Wild Horses im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 312.500,00 (€ 268.309,44).
