The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,143.50), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tom Coates have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Street Scene, Florence in June 2007 with an auction result of GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,986.07).

Die Arbeit Painting on the beach von Tom Coates wurde im Mai 2011 in der Auktion Christie's Interiors bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.143,50) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tom Coates auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Street Scene, Florence im Juni 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.986,07).
