This artwork by Tim Eitel achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in November 2006. In the Post War and Contemporary Art Afternoon Session auction, the work Schwarzer Sand sold for USD 284,800.00 (€ 214,765.10) - well above the upper estimate of USD 150,000.00. This high result makes Schwarzer Sand the most expensive artwork by Tim Eitel that we have observed at auctions so far.
