In December 2011 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Helen of Whitby by Thomas Stothard. The result of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,197.64) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Stothard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sylvia and the Outlaws: a Scene from Shakespeare's 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 10,755.00 (€ 15,701.96).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Helen of Whitby von Thomas Stothard zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.197,64) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Stothard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sylvia and the Outlaws: a Scene from Shakespeare's 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' im Februar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.755,00 (€ 15.701,96).
