In November last year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction California Art, which included the work Thomas Hill and Virgil Williams Fishing in Yosemite by Thomas Hill. The »bidding war« ended at USD 40,695.00 (€ 39,421.68), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Hill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hudson River Valley from the Catskill Mountain House in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 372,500.00 (€ 328,976.42).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion California Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Thomas Hill and Virgil Williams Fishing in Yosemite von Thomas Hill zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 40.695,00 (€ 39.421,68) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Hill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hudson River Valley from the Catskill Mountain House im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 372.500,00 (€ 328.976,42).
