This artwork by Thomas Hearne achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2006. In the British Art on Paper auction, the work Salisbury Cathedral sold for GBP 3,840.00 (€ 5,702.52) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Thomas Hearne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Elegant figures rowing on the the River Wear before Lumley Castle, which sold at auction in May 2001 for GBP 12,925.00 (€ 21,669.06).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Hearne erzielte im November 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British Art on Paper wurde die Arbeit Salisbury Cathedral für GBP 3.840,00 (€ 5.702,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Thomas Hearne mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Elegant figures rowing on the the River Wear before Lumley Castle beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für GBP 12.925,00 (€ 21.669,06) versteigert wurde.
