Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Eakins could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work Portrait of Mrs. Joseph W. Drexel changed hands for USD 68,500.00 (€ 47,648.86) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Eakins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cowboys in the Badlands in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 5,383,500.00 (€ 4,575,471.70).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Thomas Eakins konnte im Mai 2011 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden.
