Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2016 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work James A. Flaherty by Thomas Eakins. The price achieved of USD 185,000.00 (€ 166,142.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Eakins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cowboys in the Badlands in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 5,383,500.00 (€ 4,575,471.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2016 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit James A. Flaherty von Thomas Eakins zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 185.000,00 (€ 166.142,79) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Eakins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cowboys in the Badlands im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.383.500,00 (€ 4.575.471,70).
