In December 2002 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Ernest Lee Parker by Thomas Eakins. The »bidding war« ended at USD 101,575.00 (€ 96,876.49), 27% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Eakins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cowboys in the Badlands in May 2003 with an auction result of USD 5,383,500.00 (€ 4,575,471.70).

Im Dezember 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ernest Lee Parker von Thomas Eakins zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 101.575,00 (€ 96.876,49) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Eakins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cowboys in the Badlands im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 5.383.500,00 (€ 4.575.471,70).
