Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2016 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work View On The Hudson Near Tivoli by Thomas Doughty. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 81,250.00 (€ 72,968.12) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Thomas Doughty have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Autumn Landscape in November 2001 with an auction result of USD 292,000.00 (€ 325,965.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2016 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit View On The Hudson Near Tivoli von Thomas Doughty zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 81.250,00 (€ 72.968,12) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Doughty auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Autumn Landscape im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 292.000,00 (€ 325.965,62).
