Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Piles by Thomas Demand was auctioned at Sothebys in Cologne in November 2021. The price achieved of EUR 2,520.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Demand achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Yellowcake (Embassy I,II, III, IV, IV.a, V, VI, VII, VII.a) in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 413,000.00 (€ 375,659.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Piles von Thomas Demand kam im November 2021 bei Sothebys in Köln zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 2.520,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Demand erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Yellowcake (Embassy I,II, III, IV, IV.a, V, VI, VII, VII.a) im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 413.000,00 (€ 375.659,45).
