Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A wooded river landscape with a mother and child seated on the bank by Thomas Creswick was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2002, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,780.00 (€ 7,485.23). Admittedly, works by Thomas Creswick have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The London Road A Hundred Years Ago in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 38,240.00 (€ 56,912.57).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A wooded river landscape with a mother and child seated on the bank von Thomas Creswick im November 2002 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.780,00 (€ 7.485,23) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Thomas Creswick auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The London Road A Hundred Years Ago im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 38.240,00 (€ 56.912,57).
