In December 2001 Christies in London held the auction BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST, which included the work Windmill, evening sky by Thomas Churchyard. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 763.75 (€ 1,247.86), 53% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Thomas Churchyard; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The Isle of Wight sold at auction in December 2001 with the realized price of GBP 1,175.00 (€ 1,919.79).

Im Dezember 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion BRITISH AND CONTINENTAL DRAWINGS AND WATERCOLOURS AND ILLUST durch, in der auch die Arbeit Windmill, evening sky von Thomas Churchyard zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 763,75 (€ 1.247,86) und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Thomas Churchyard; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit The Isle of Wight im Dezember 2001 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 1.175,00 (€ 1.919,79).
