The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,713.51) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Thomas Buttersworth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Captain Lord Cochrane'S Frigate Pallas Leaving The Tagus Under Full Sail, The City of Lisbon Beyond And The Belem Tower Receding Astern in June 2006 with an auction result of GBP 102,000.00 (€ 147,592.30).
