Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Thomas Beach could be acquired at Christies in London in May 2006 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Portrait of Mr Highmore Skeats Snr. (1760-1831), Former Organist At Canterbury Cathedral, Half-Length, In A Blue Coat, Feigned Oval And Portrait of Mrs Skeats, Half-Length, In A Black Dress With A White Shawl And Bonnet, Feigned Oval changed hands for GBP 1,920.00 (€ 2,802.57) - missing the lower end of the estimate r Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Beach achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Four portraits of the children of William and Elizabeth Helyar: Joanna, aged 8; Harriet, aged 11; Edward, aged 18; and Bridget, aged 13 in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,207.88).
In der Auktion British and Victorian Pictures wechselte die Arbeit Portrait of Mr Highmore Skeats Snr. (1760-1831), Former Organist At Canterbury Cathedral, Half-Length, In A Blue Coat, Feigned Oval And Portrait of Mrs Skeats, Half-Length, In A Black Dress With A White Shawl And Bonnet, Feigned Oval für GBP 1.920,00 (€ 2.802,57) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00.
